"The Cipher" can be translated into English as "serendipity". Michael and his best friend Jordan are on a road trip during a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere when they run out of gasoline. This is where the Cipher closes, as a similar event had occurred years before as Michael and his band embarked upon their first tour together.
