“My Forgotten Place”

This edition of Tell Us Something was recorded on March 21, 2013 at the Top Hat Lounge in Missoula, MT. The theme was “Extremes”.

Marisa Franz shares her story “My Forgotten Place”. Marisa Franz struggles with the seemingly unchangeable circle of violence and poverty in Browning and communities like it as she remembers her 6 year old friend Maimie.

Marisa Franz was born in the exciting state of Kansas.  By an act of God’s great mercy her family moved to Missoula before she could name all the different types of cows.

After completing high school, Marisa headed east to Marquette University in the original beer town, Milwaukee.  Upon graduation she moved to Chicago to work in advertising and, as many who wander by Wrigley Field do, became a Cubs fan.

Luckily for all of us, Marisa returned to Missoula, and worked as a realtor before she decided to change it up once again.  She went to The University of Montana where she revived her Masters Degree in Elementary Education.  Upon completion Marisa took a short stint attempting to understand why anyone lives on the high line while teaching in the Browning Public School.
