“Scissors”

This quarter’s Tell us Something was recorded on October 10th, 2013 at the Top Hat Lounge in Missoula, MT. The theme was “Be Careful What You Wish For”.

Jo Deurbrouck shares her story “Scissors”. Jo Deurbrouck travels to Indonesia. On the last day of the trip, she is in  Taipei City, Taiwan, she is accosted by security for possessing contraband.

Jo Deurbrouck believes that story is how we create ourselves and know our worlds. She is the author of Anything Worth Doing: A True Story of Friendship, Adventure, And Tragedy on the Last of the West’s Great Rivers, a 2012 National Outdoor Book Award winner which received an Idaho Book Award Honorable Mention, joining past honorees such as Ron Carlson, Brady Udall, and Kim Barnes. Her essays, microessays and book reviews have appeared in many publications, including the Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and Creative Nonfiction.
