“Playing Monopoly with God”

This edition of Tell Us Something was recorded on October 9th, 2014 at the Top Hat Lounge in Missoula, MT. The theme was “The Things We Carry”.

Melissa Bangs shares her story “Playing Monopoly with God”. Melissa loses her mind after giving birth and experiencing a month without sleep, ends up playing Monopoly with God, and coming through the other side with grace and beauty.

In her many years away from Montana, Melissa Bangs worked as a labor organizer, a development director of an international human rights organization and a non-profit consultant in Mexico, Chile, El Salvador, San Francisco and New York City.

In 2004, Melissa brought her non-profit consulting business home and worked with well over 100 non-profit organizations throughout Montana before the birth of her daughter, Adelaide, in 2012.

Currently, Melissa is living two long-term dreams.  She is both at home with Adelaide, savoring every moment of these early years and is one of nine artists currently represented by Missoula’s newest fine art venue… Radius Gallery.

Mela was so inspired by the experience of sharing her story at Tell Us Something that she booked a sold out show at a local theater, ramping her story up to 90 minutes from 15. And she’s doing it again in May. Check it out: Playing Monopoly with God.
