Hi, my name is Ashleigh, and I am the Tell Us Something Intern! One year ago, in the midst of an existential crisis, I decided to give up my career as a Hair Stylist so I could pursue my college degree. This dream led me to find the Media Arts program at the University of Montana. I chose Media Arts because I know that I will only be happy if I am being creative. I haven’t been able to nail down the one thing that I want to focus on in the Media Arts world because all of it is so new and fun at this point.
The skillset I am acquiring has allowed me to join in on some really great projects. Along with working with Tell Us Something, I am also currently helping a non-profit organization set up a website and social media campaign to help build a hospital in a remote area in Tanzania. Working with organizations like Tell Us Something and New Hope International Hospital is really a dream come true for me. There is something intoxicating about working with people that really care about what they are doing, and how they affect the world around them.
During my time with Tell Us Something, I will be responsible for producing the weekly podcasts, as well as posting about the podcasts on social media. I will also be helping shoot and edit some video of the actual event. This video will be cut down into a series of youtube videos that will be structured similarly to the podcasts. This footage will also be used to create a short documentary about why Marc Started Tell Us Something, what the process is like for the storytellers, and how much work is put into each event. It’s amazing to think that this has been a one-man show for so long, and Marc deserves some recognition for doing all by himself!
I don’t think that I am brave enough yet to actually share a story myself, but I am excited to be involved with the behind the scenes processes. Missoula is such a great community to be a part of. I am hoping that my work with Tell Us Something will help me get to know the people of this community in a more meaningful way!
