Tricia Opstad - Mad World

This quarter’s Tell us Something was recorded on December 15th, 2011 at the Missoula Art Museum, and features six storytellers telling a story based upon the theme “Dear Diary”, which tied into the art exhibit that was a fictionalized account of “The Lost Journals of Sacajawea” by artists Deborah Magpie Earling and Peter Rutlige Koch.

Tricia Opstad shares her story "Mad World". It is the only story she has about her great grandfather Fred Miller, a schizophrenic who spent his later years in a mental institution in Jamestown, ND.  Through this story she traces the mental illness of her family to a place of forgiveness.

Tricia Opstad creates experimental and improvisational performances. Her work embraces individuality and invites curiosity. Performance material is generated using The Viewpoints of Shape, Space, Time, Emotion, Movement and Story.  Find out more about Tricia and her work at TriciaVision.
